Eternal Fidelity

everything is frame-of-reference,
coupled with point-of-view;
that's why "I'm right behind you"
can be both good news and bad news:
protection from all harm or
everything you have to lose.

words sometimes mean so much less
than they should,
but eternal fidelity
ought to speak clearly.

but no matter how much I say it,
if you don't hear and believe it,
I might as well be quiet,
and slip away.
