that image

rulebreaker, risk-taker,
a hooligan come true:
trouble-maker, toy-taker,
but I hung a star for you;

you can say it can't be so,
but you and I, we both know:
I keep your face
and that smile
tucked safely
under my eyelids;

for all that was,
and for all that may yet be,
no one is going to take
that image
away from me.
