never would have been able to predict most of my recent past:
just a few years ago, I probably would have just laughed;
now, day to day, I expect less and less;
it's easier that way, wading through all of this mess;
that way when something good happens,
I'm pleasantly surprised,
like if I were to prosper, instead of just survived:
lowered expectations is the rule --
keeps me from looking like a bigger fool.
