down is a very strong adverb

got wise way too late:
now the die is cast;
no more time to hesitate;
this run, while best, will be the last;

I knew all along that I'd see you
on your way down, you old clown;
I sure am glad that I got to be you,
so I could see your confused frown;

so welcome to your first hell;
there's so much more to come:
after you discover that here you will dwell
for now, forever, and then some;

remember how you chuckled with glee,
as you kicked me to life's curb?
we now are together, you and me:
and now you know that down is a very strong adverb.
