You Never Know

been colder than this,
enough to make ice
run away screaming,
seeking warmth.

you never know what you can do
until you are forced to

been hotter than this,
enough to make fire
grab a fan and
open a window.

you never know what you can endure
until you are forced to

if you can look death in the eye,
and not flinch,
you might think you won,
but you won't get an inch.
