mama dilly

she told me that
she was a little nervous,
as she had never climbed that high,
and being the gentleman
that I hope one day to be,
I looked her straight in the eye,
and I said, "darlin', don't you
worry yer purty lil head
one bit, I'll stay here at
the bottom, and I'll take hold of it,
and if you should fall, I'll catch you,"
and she smiled "thanks," and
went on up, it's true;
and brother, from down here,
what a view.
