the twice-a-year
running of the generator
is actually
a welcome thing
to those of us
who remember
carbon paper
and the old
Remington:
that's the time
when we intentionally
shut the power off,
fire her up,
and let her run for
twenty minutes,
carrying a load.

maybe even
write something.
