none of it created out of thin air,
as it might seem to you at the time;
almost always built on ghosts
and victories, even tragedies,
events that once were really there,
or at least, really imagined;
and all it takes, most of the time,
is just a little concentration,
and a little memory,
and of course, those semi-colons --
they remind you to pause;
even for a brief moment,
and consider the words just passed,
over there, on the left --
and an image or two,
like the seagull standing watch
on the roof of the lighthouse,
and -- voilá -- the poem,
which is nearly done,
goes to abide with all the others.
