this is one of those times
when even black,
normally, my tint of choice,
seems too garish;

sadness for me,
not really that big a deal;
but sadness for them,
for the loss,
that one is too real,
too much for even black
to bend around, touch down,
and try to conceal
the pain that remains
when the echoes of my screams
fade away, with the dark day,
when Why? is all it seems I can say,
that's when that damned black
is not nearly dark enough,

days like today.
