you can count on me

in nearly a year now
that we have been in love, and
when all the chips were
really down,
I have never failed you,
and I don't intend to start now;
not braggadocio,
just fact;
and a reminder
that our love drives me,
and keeps my strength intact:

on every step of this
most painful journey,
and with every step
on the way back;
and together, this will be
